This Belongs to You

Colossians 3:22-4:1Pastor Mike

Reflection

Most Mondays begin with a list. Messages to answer. People to care for. Tasks that were waiting before you even woke up. It is easy to move straight into responsibility without ever asking who your day belongs to. Paul gives you a different starting point: whatever you do, do it as service to Christ. That does not make every task exciting, but it does make every task available to God. Your desk, classroom, truck, kitchen, shop, appointment calendar, caregiving, schoolwork, or volunteer role can become a place of worship when you consciously place it in Jesus’ hands. Consecration is not a dramatic promise that you will perform perfectly. It is a quiet surrender of ownership. Your time is His. Your attitude is His. Your ability is His. Even the parts of your work you would rather avoid can be offered to Him. Before you ask Jesus to bless what you are doing today, invite Him to rule you while you do it. The Kingdom begins wherever the King is welcomed. Nothing becomes less ordinary, but you begin to see every responsibility as belonging to the King. Monday can become holy ground when you begin with the simple prayer, “Jesus, this belongs to You.”

Application

1.  What part of your normal responsibilities is hardest for you to think of as something you can offer to Jesus?

2.  Where do you most often ask God to bless your plans without first surrendering your attitude, schedule, or expectations to Him?

3.  What would change today if you treated your ordinary responsibilities as places where Jesus is already present and at work?

Daily Challenge

Before beginning your main responsibilities today, stop for one full minute. Open your hands and pray, “Jesus, this belongs to You.” Name your work, relationships, schedule, attitude, ambition, and time one by one, and consciously place each under His lordship.

Prayer

Jesus, You are Lord of my whole life, not only the parts that feel spiritual. I give You my work, my responsibilities, my plans, and my attitude today. Rule me in the ordinary moments. Help me serve You with a willing heart and recognize Your presence in the places I usually overlook. Amen.
