Show Them What Home is Like

Romans 12:9-18Pastor Mike

Paul says citizens of heaven eagerly await Jesus, the Savior who will return and transform what is weak. Christian hope is not an excuse to escape the world. It is confidence that Jesus is making all things new—and that His future should shape the way you live now.

Think of your life as a preview of the Kingdom you belong to. If the reign of Jesus is marked by truth, mercy, justice, holiness, generosity, reconciliation, hospitality, and love, then those qualities should begin appearing in you.

That makes ordinary choices deeply spiritual. Forgiving someone can become a glimpse of the coming Kingdom. Welcoming a lonely person can show what your homeland is like. Telling the truth when deception would benefit you becomes a Kingdom act. Serving someone who cannot repay you becomes a sign that another King is shaping your values.

You do not have to fix the whole world today. You are simply called to be faithful where God has placed you.

And you can do that with hope. Headlines may be dark. Institutions may disappoint. People may fail. Your own body may grow weak. But Jesus is still Savior and Lord. He will finish what sin has broken.

Until then, live here in such a way that people can see where you truly belong.

  1. If someone watched your life this week, what evidence would they see that your deepest citizenship belongs to the Kingdom of God?
  2. Which Kingdom quality—mercy, truth, justice, generosity, reconciliation, hospitality, holiness, or love—does Jesus most want to develop in you?
  3. Where has God placed you right now to become a visible sign of what life under the reign of Jesus looks like?

Choose one Kingdom-preview action today. Forgive someone, encourage a discouraged person, serve without recognition, show hospitality, give generously, repair a relationship, stand for someone vulnerable, or tell the truth when it costs you. Let one ordinary action show someone what your true homeland is like.

Prayer

Lord Jesus, thank You that my hope is not built on what I see around me but on Your promise to make all things new. Make my life a preview of Your Kingdom. Let people encounter Your mercy, truth, holiness, generosity, justice, and love through me. Until You come, help me live faithfully here. Amen.
